American Horror Story Sees the Return of Loved Icons and New Cast Members

American Horror Story Season 13 is set to premiere on October 31, 2026. The season is rumored to revisit the witch-themed Season 3 Coven and Season 8 Apocalypse storylines. Looks like we are returning to Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies.

The installment features returning favorites such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman. New to this season is Ariana Grande, who has worked with Ryan Murphy on Scream Queens.

The big surprise this season is the return of Jessica Lange, who previously said that she would not return. After devoting herself to the series for four seasons, Lange was asked if she would reprise any of her roles, to which she stated, "Oh Christ no... I'm not doing it."

The reprising of her role came as a shock to fans.

Paulson and Peters were expected to return due to recent teasers and interviews given by Murphy and the rest of the cast earlier this year.

American Horror Story has made its mark on television, combining disturbing and dark content to appeal to dark-minded audience members. The show first premiered on FX in October 2011, with the ghost-infested Murder House

According to Hollywood Reporter, it will have been three years since the most reason season debuted. The 12th installment, Delicate, starring Kim Kardashian, premiered in September 2023. The season ran in two parts before its conclusion in April 2024.

Since its creation, co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have introduced eerie asylums, cursed covens, sinister circuses, haunted hotels, aliens, and even the end of the world to mesmerize and scare viewers.

According to TV Insider, Ryan Murphy sent out a poll on a now-disappeared Instagram story asking fans to vote on potential themes or creatures they wanted to see in the upcoming season. Options included sea sirens, a Wild West story, Bloody Mary, Salem, a possible plague, and werewolves and other cryptids. From the poll, sirens, Bloody Mary, and the plague emerged victorious as fan favorites.

Fans have taken to the #americanhorrorstory hashtag on social media to speculate what the season may be about. Rumors say that the thirteenth season may be the show's last.

With the addition of new faces and the return of loved icons, American Horror Story's thirteenth installment could easily become the biggest in years.
