FBI Operation: Summer Heat Leads to Nearly 100 Arrests in Arkansas
The Federal Bureau of Investigation Little Rock Office, in coordination with other federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, made 90 arrests over the past several months as part of the Operation: Summer Heat initiative. This operation was a nationwide effort to combat violent crime.
Between June 24 and September 20, FBI field offices participated in this initiative to investigate and arrest violent criminals and gangs, dismantle drug networks and operations, recover illegal firearms and substances, and investigate crimes against children.
In Arkansas, the collective efforts of the FBI Little Rock Field Office resulted in:
- 90 arrests
- 24 indictments
- 15 convictions
- 37 drug seizures
- 32 firearm recoveries
Nationally, Summer Heat has led to 8,629 arrests, with more than 6,500 falling under the Violent Crime and Gang Program.
Agents and intelligence professionals also investigated violent crimes against children and identified and located 1,053 children in accordance to the Violent Crimes Against Children Program. This program prioritizes child abductions, contact offenses against children, sexual exploitation of children, trafficking of child sexual abuse material, and international parental kidnapping.
Operation: Summer Heat has led to the seizure of 44,569 kilograms of cocaine, 421 kilograms of fentanyl, and 2,281 weapons.
