Brick Thrown Through Window Injures Two-Year-Old
A two-year-old toddler was struck by a brick thrown through a window by a Jacksonville man.
Zachary David Brinson (45), the father of the toddler, has been faced with felony charges after he allegedly threw a brick through a bedroom window. Brinson had reportedly began to threaten to do so starting July 26th.
According to Arkadelphian, the man's new ex-companion told Arkadelphia police that Brinson had begun making threatening phone calls to throw a rock through her window. A few days later, he allegedly carried out this threat.
After receiving the warning about the threats, police responded to a call on Pine Street from a woman reporting that her toddler had been struck by a large brick that had been hurled through her window. Upon entering the scene, officers noticed a brick laying on the bed and observed that the toddler had a gash on his head and blood coating the back of his shirt.
Five minutes after police arrived at the scene, Brinson made a phone call to the toddler's mother asking what had happened. He allegedly insisted that he was not to blame for throwing the brick, though no one had informed him of the disturbance prior to the phone call.
The mother's new companion would later inform police that Brinson had reportedly told them he would be returning to their home with a firearm after the incident. When police returned to the scene, they overheard Brinson threatening to shoot the companion in the face and chest.
Police were then informed that the mother's vehicle was parked nearby with all four tires slashed. Nearby video surveillance footage captured an individual walking through the parking lot to slash the tires before moving to the house and throwing an unidentifiable object into the window.
Investigators then identified Brinson's vehicle at the scene of the crime and obtained video footage showing Brinson traveling in the area shortly after the incident. Police then discovered his cell phone in the area.
Brinson has now been charged with second-degree domestic battery, criminal mischief, and terroristic threatening following the incident.
